DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE released in theaters last Friday. I’ve seen it. I enjoyed it (though it was my least favorite of the three DEADPOOL films). But I love a good movie tie-in as readers of this blog know well. So when my San Diego hometown fast food chain Jack in The Box offered a nice DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE meal box that included chimichangas, I had to try it ASAP.
I rushed to Jack In The Box on Friday at lunch and ordered both the large “Jack’s Fan Fave Box with Mini Chimi Bang Bangs” and the “Jack’s Loaded Mini Chimi Bang Bangs” box. Each came packaged in a DEADPOOL-themed box.
The real star here were the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs. As all good Deadpool fans know, the man loves Chimichangas. And so Jack In The Box has incorporated the dish into many of its Deadpool offerings, including these two featured menu items.

Now I love Jack In The Box loaded mini-tacos. And the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs seemed like a good bet to be just as tasty. Unfortunately the “loaded” part of the meal only got the Bang Bangs soggy and made them just sort of limp burritos. The combination of taco sauce and melted cheese were just too much for the structural integrity of the bang bang.

Luckily I also bought the Fan Fave Box (pictured above) with Mini Chimi Bang Bangs and this one did not disappoint. The Chimi Bang Bangs were not drenched in sauce and condiments and instead were just available to dip in any of the four sauces: ranch (a particularly good combo), BBQ sauce, taco sauce (aka the loaded sauce), or ketchup. The bang bangs were loaded with chicken, cheese, and beans – and honestly, for a fast food restaurant, were fried to PERFECTION. These were delicious and went well with all the dips – even the BBQ sauce.
The bang bangs were served with multiple sides: both onion rings and seasoned fries – as well as chocolate infused churros. All three sides were delicious and complimented the main course well. In addition, with this box you get FIVE bang bangs – so even though the box costs $10 – it is well worth the money considering the large amount of food that you get. This is a highly recommended dish. Please note, the Fan Fave box does NOT come with a drink.

You also get a nice little Deadpool sticker (Jack In The Box variant) with the purchase – at least I did. This is a nice little prize/charm that just added to the goodness of the box.

There is another Deadpool meal variant that features chicken and waffles – served both separately and together. I will try that this week – but honestly this was enough Jack In The Box for me for the next few days (even though I loved it).
Final judgment: Overall, the mini chimi bang bangs are worth the purchase – either as standalone or in the Fan Fave box. Just don’t get the loaded version – even though taco sauce is a nice compliment.
