THE MARVELS Happy Meal Toys Have Arrived at McDonalds – And Princess Carol is wearing a Captain Marvel gown!

Brie Larson – YOU ARE A HAPPY MEAL TOY (again)! THE MARVELS (aka the CAPTAIN MARVEL sequel) Happy Meal toys have arrived at McDonalds. Originally the film was schedule to be released NEXT Friday, July 28th. But earlier this year, that date was pushed all the way back to November 11th. Unfortunately release dates do not always cooperate with McDonalds’ internal calendar, so when that happens, Happy Meals fans know they will get movie toys months in advance of the actual date. This works well sometimes – like in the case of SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE Happy Meals, which arrived in January, more than three months ahead of the film. The January Happy Meals kicked off a wave of Mario Mania with Super Nintendo World opening at Universal Studios Hollywood in February and of course the film releasing in April.

I don’t know if THE MARVELS Happy Meal foreshadows such a culturally significant moment, and my guess is that it will be more like parents just thinking, “oh my kid got another Marvel action figure”.

Still, for those of us that ARE anticipating THE MARVELS, the toys actually give us a reason to get little more excited. The toys give us our first look at Carol and a few of the new suits featured – including a “Princess Carol” (the Happy Meal box and website both refer to her as this – which is exciting) dress/ ballgown for the rumored Bollywood sequence in the film, a look at Goose (who looks weird), and our first look at “Prince Yan” per the Happy Meal box – rumored to be Carol Danver’s husband – and btw the first official confirmation of that character name, full canon comic book name being: Prince Yan D’Aladna.

Goose looks odd – that human face has got to be a weird interpretation – I HOPE.

Look they’ve paired Goose with Monica Rambeau/aka Photon – I hope that means they’ll be working together in the film. They seem like they would have some wonderful “good cop/bad cop” odd-couple vibes.

Also take a look at the box which really spells out each of the Marvels’ power in concise and fairly easy to understand terms. I think this is the first time I’ve seen something like this:

CAPTIAN MARVEL – Powers: Absorb and blast light energy, super strength

MS. MARVEL – Powers: Hardlight – turns light into energy objects

PHOTON: See and controls different types of light energy

I am really curious to see how these are differentiated on screen as Photon’s powers seem like a lesser version of Carol’s powers, though I imagine the ability to control as opposed to blast will offer her some options that Carol cannot process. Anyway, I wish THE MARVELS was coming out next week. On the plus side, at least we now have over 3 months to get the hype train up to speed. Hopefully these Happy Meals are a step in the right direction.
